Ed Coppinger

After a long period of numerous injuries I decided that I wanted to turn the tide and get back to a good level of competitive action. I had followed Sam’s progress from a far and been impressed by his personal achievements and the way in which he conducts himself. However, after being coached previously I knew the most important element for me was the right interaction and style of the relationship with me as a client. After talking to his existing clients and hearing only high praise I decided to take the plunge and start to work with Sam. I was impressed immediately by his approach to supporting me, listening to my story and aspirations, and creating a passion for my journey. It wasn’t difficult to commit to the process and head off on our journey together!

In April 2020 we set a number of goals, with the main focus of qualifying for the GB Age Group Duathlon Team and a marathon PB. These were lofty ambitions as I had spent the last 3 years hobbling over finishing lines and enjoying too much sofa time! We quickly found a really good way of working and building the foundations. Where Sam adds true value to the relationship is that he listens and adapts the plan to how you feel and the circumstances around you. He always talks positively and gives you amazing confidence to succeed. This also becomes infectious and transferable to other parts of your lifestyle! In addition to the 1 to 1 relationship Sam has created a group where clients interact and support each other, with the focus being on sharing the journey and motivation. We are all on a different paths but the collective is a powerful group to inspire you!

So how are we doing? It’s fair to say I’ve been blown away by the results. We’ve navigated trough 12 months of no injuries, PB’s across the board and the main goal of qualifying for the Duathlon World Championships achieved. For a 49 year old balancing everything that life throws at you, I’ve enjoyed every moment and highly value my relationship with Sam as my coach
